Description:
MOBILISE workshop held on 19th December, 2019 at Mount Lavinia Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Dr. Noralfishah Sulaiman is invited to this event with other researchers from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and UK.

The event started by lighting of the lamp as their culture to get blessings. Welcome speech delivered by Prof. Terrence Fernando and he further explained that the MOBILISE approach for building a technology platform for strengthening collaboration in DRR and response in Sri Lanka. Later on, Prof. Terrence did the official donation of the MOBILISE Technology platform to DMC & NBRO, Sri Lanka. Also, Prof. Chaminda Pathirage defined a resilience framework for Sri Lanka.

Later on, Co-investigators from every country delivered the presentation on progress up till now and explained the challenges they are facing for collaboration with agencies. Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Jan gave the presentation on “MOBILISE approach for developing multi-agency collaboration in Pakistan“. Dr. Noralfishah Sulaiman delivered the presentation on “Building multi-agency collaboration for DRR in Malaysia“. Dr. Udayagani Kulatunge addressed the presentation on “Building interdisciplinary research capacity in Sri Lanka“.

After the presentations, the panel session started entitled: “Building a collaborative approach for disaster risk reduction and response in Sri Lanka. The panel members belong to collaborated agencies in Sri Lanka i.e. DMC, NBRO, ADPC, SLLRDC, University of Colombo. Several questions were asked regarding the title, Prof. Terrence Fernando was the moderator of the session. It was a good activity to involve agencies and communicate with the issues they are facing because of a lack of collaboration.
